About us

Samson Video Productions is a family run business based in Cumbernauld, Glasgow with the day to day operations being carried out by William & Frances Samson. We have been building on our range of services as a Video Production Company since 2006. William served as a Police Officer for many years before turning his hand to his first love of film-making, & after graduating in Media Studies from Cumbernauld College, he quickly became a sought after Director of Photography by many of the ‘Indie’ filmmakers in the Central Belt of Scotland. During this time Samson Video Productions was steadily building a satisfied client base with the many other services it provides such as:

In 2007, William was commissioned to make a documentary for the Leonardo da Vinci Project. This entailed him travelling with a Youth Football team to Italy & using a crew of 4 Media Students to film the Team’s progress in a Training Camp & the lead up to a Football Tournament. The documentary was very well received.

Also in 2007 our short film ‘Catch!’ received a coveted BAFTA nomination when entered into the UK-wide BAFTA/Orange Short Film Competition. The following year, William again entered the competition, this time as Director of Photography in the Bad Pony production ‘Looking after Mum’. The film missed out on the top prize, but the team were more than happy to receive a BAFTA Nomination. Again, as Director of Photography, William was involved in the making of ‘Champagne, Christmas & L.O.L.’. This film received no less than 3 awards at the prestigious Kent Film Festival. Our short film ‘Splinter’ was picked to be shown at The Edinburgh Film Festival in 2011. Getting a film shown at the Festival was no mean feat in itself & by all accounts, the film was well received. We continue to enter competitions as we use this as a way of ensuring that we maintain our high standards & of course, we hope to win more awards in the future!

Another area that we are very involved in, is that of School Productions. We have filmed many Summer & Christmas Shows, Musical Extravaganzas etc. William, being an ex-police officer, takes a particular interest in child safety & in 2008, working with the children of Sacred Heart Primary in Grangemouth, his ‘Stranger Danger’ film was awarded ‘The Falkirk & Stirling Young People’s Film Award’ for Best Documentary. Both William & Frances have obtained Disclosure Scotland Certificates to enable them to work with children & other vulnerable people.

From starting out in 2006, we have now made over 400 films ranging from young couples wedding films to corporate shoots for National Companies, from school shows to professional Theatre productions, from ballet dancers to belly dancers & from short films to feature films.

Samson Video Productions & in particular William Samson, has become through hard work & the ability to produce an excellent product, the first choice for many when looking for a videographer.

Testimonials

“With Samson Video Productions you know you’re getting a first class quality product. Having produced many of our short films with SVP, we’ve come to rely on Will’s judgement, talent, good humour and keen eye for a great visual. When it came time for us to produce our debut feature we knew that there was only one man that we trusted behind the camera and that’s Will Samson”
